Go Deeper
Insights from The Weekly REBOOT

Introduction: The "Go!" Series
Recently, I took a nostalgic trip through some old files on my computer and stumbled upon a folder titled "Refresh Weekends." These were retreats we organized around 8-10 years ago, filled with lessons, worship, and fellowship. Among the series in that folder was one simply titled "Go!" Initially, I planned to recycle this material, but I quickly realized that I’ve grown significantly as a communicator over the years. So, I revamped the series, and I’m excited to explore this with you all.
Going Deeper: Beyond Complexity
The theme of this series is about going deeper—whether it be in faith, relationships, or understanding. But what does it mean to go deeper? Often, people associate deeper with complicated or emotionally intense situations. However, true depth can be found in simplicity. Let me share an insight: some of the deepest lessons are the simplest. For example, "love your neighbor as yourself" is easy to understand yet difficult to fully live out. It's these simple truths that, when applied, take us deeper in our walk with God.
The Story of Philip and the Ethiopian Eunuch
Let’s dive into an inspiring story from Acts 8 about Philip and the Ethiopian eunuch. An angel instructs Philip to approach a chariot on the desert road from Jerusalem to Gaza. There, he meets an Ethiopian eunuch reading Isaiah and realizes he doesn’t understand it. Philip explains the passage and shares the good news of Jesus. In response, the eunuch asks to be baptized without delay. This story is a powerful example of simple, immediate obedience leading to profound outcomes.
The Great Commission: Our Simplified Mandate
Turning to the Great Commission in Matthew 28, we find a clear directive from Jesus: "Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them… and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." These instructions are straightforward yet deeply impactful if faithfully followed. The Christian life isn't just about scripture memorization but about application—living out these clear commands with a willing heart.
Facing Our Fears and Acting on God’s Will
What simple command has God placed on your heart that remains unfulfilled? Too often, we complicate things due to fear, doubt, or insecurity, when God is calling us to step out boldly like Philip and the eunuch. It’s not about being perfect but being obedient. For some, this might mean baptism, a leap of faith, or responding to a persistent calling. Ignoring these nudges not only holds us back but also causes us to miss out on God’s greatest plans for our lives.
A Personal Journey of Faith
Let me share a personal story about my journey to REBOOT. I was leading a successful technology company during a season of financial stability when God stirred a new calling in my heart for trauma recovery. Despite initial resistance, it became clear that I had to step out in faith. Sometimes, God has to make our current situations uncomfortable to push us toward our destiny. If you find yourself on a shaky dock, it might be time to step onto the boat of faith.
A Challenge to Step Out and Go Deeper
Consider what God is calling you to do. Where in your life is He asking you to go deeper and step out of your comfort zone? Going deeper can be intimidating, but it’s also rewarding. I challenge you to identify those areas where you need to act and commit to moving forward, trusting in God’s guidance and provision.
Let’s embrace this journey together, applying the simple truths of God’s word and seeing the profound impact they can have. Go deeper and don’t delay. The rewards awaiting you are beyond measure.
